Interstice Paintings
My Interstice series explores the spaces that intervene between things, thoughts, and time. Utilizing a uniformed 12 x 12 size the paintings, seen from a distance, engage the viewer with simple appealing blocks of color. Close examination reveals a swell of colors rising to the surface exposed in incised lines and deep translucent layers. The paintings convey a tension between constraint and connection, consistency and impulse, inevitability and ambiguity, and ultimately the known and unknown. These are the private spaces that exist everywhere and in everyone often only made visible through cracks that let the light shine in.
