Conversations With Friends

Each painting in my series Conversations With Friends is built up through layers of encaustic paint and imagery created with my hand-cut stencils. The inspiration for these works came unexpectedly—from a conversation with another artist during one of my workshops. It’s often a fleeting remark or an offhand phrase that sparks a new direction, setting a creative chain reaction into motion.

My process is intuitive and exploratory, guided more by curiosity than a predetermined plan. The paintings unfold as I work, driven by a compulsion to transform a single thought into something tangible. Layer by layer, I build, carve back, and reveal—trusting the process to lead me somewhere unexpected.
